Three Phase Pole Mounted Transformer Types

3 Phase Square Pole Transformer
OMEK Power’s square pole transformer can be installed horizontally between two utility poles. It can be installed in a double pole or H pole. These installations features a stable center of gravity and uniform stress.
Designing it in rectangle form, an obvious advantage is that it can load larger iron cores and windings, enabling a larger capacity compared with conventional designs. Suitable for areas with higher voltages and loads demands.
Similar to a ground mounted transformer, it has a corrugated oil tank, fully sealed structure, and rectangular shape. The difference is, no oil storage cabinet, smaller volume, lighter weight.

3 Phase Cylindrical Pole Transformer
OMEK Power’s cylindrical pole transformer has lifting lug welded to the side, so that it can be vertically mounted on a utility pole. It is more suitable for the areas where the distance between utility poles is relatively large.
This three phase distribution transformer with a tub has a smaller rated capacity, compact structure, and suitable for limited space while still ensuring reliable power distribution.

Not necessarily. A pole distribution transformer refers to one that is installed on a pole. It can be designed as either a single phase or three phase.
In distribution networks, the most common type of pole mounted transformer is the single phase pole-mounted transformer. In some areas, people call it a pole pig. It is commonly oil filled and with a cylindrical sealed iron drum, suitable for areas with dispersed loads and smaller capacities.
However, 3 phase pole mounted transformers are also very common, especially when direct power supply to three-phase loads is required, the capacity is larger, or the distribution is more centralized.
To determine whether it is single phase or three phase, do not look at whether it is installed on a pole or on the ground. Instead, check whether the primary and secondary windings and the power supply system are single-phase or three-phase.
A single-phase transformer has only one set of single-phase windings. A three-phase transformer has three sets of windings, and it is used to handle three-phase alternating current.
