Reliable Hermetically Sealed Transformers
OMEK Power hermetically sealed transformer is a type of oil immersed transformer. It adopts expansion radiator, replacing the oil conservator and common radiator. The tank cover and tank border are all welding. The tank is hermetically sealed.
With this design, there’s no way for the oil to touch moisture and oxidization. For you, there’s no need to shut down power for oil maintenance.
OMEK hermetically sealed transformer has a long life span. It is specially for using in the places where there’re acid rain, salt spray, metal dust or heavy pullution. Such as photovoltaic, metallurgy, mining, coal industries.
OMEK Power Hermetic Transformer Outstanding Features
Hermetically Sealed Transformer Advantages
- Extremely low no-load current and no-load loss

Load loss is largely reducedMore than 15% lower than that of the same types’ in the country’s GB6451 standard
- Longer life span
Oil will always maintain good quality since it is isolated from the outside environment

No oil leaking riskNo oil leaking means more safety and cleaner. Also saves time to take examinations.
- High level of security
Safety protection devices are installed. Increased sensitivity to protection.

OMEK Power's Exclusive Technology
Being a hermetically sealed transformer manufacturer, we are always in the way of innovation. Through years of practice, we have upgraded our process in the step of initial oil injection. The amount of oil can’t be more or less than normal. Our engineers went through numerous studies and developed the final solution. By using an expansion and contraction characteristic tester, the initial oil injection volume of the seal transformer can be determined.

FAQs
Have any questions? We’re here to help you out.
The key difference between them is if there’s contact with the air. As can be seen from the name, it’s not hard to suspect that the hermetically sealed transformer has a whole sealed structure, so the oil in it can’t get touch with the air. While the conservator type is on the contrary.
The conservator transformer has an oil conservator installed upper the oil tank. There’s an oil pipe connecting them and the oil can get in touch with the air. For detailed differences, you can refer to the chart below.
| Feature | Hermetically Sealed | Conservator Type |
| Design | Fully sealed tank | Has an air bag or diaphragm in conservator |
| Maintenance | No silica gel change needed | Regular silica gel replacement required |
| Oil Life | Longer (minimized oxidation) | Shorter (exposed to air) |
| Installation Space | Compact | Needs extra space for conservator |
| Best For | Low maintenance, harsh environments | Traditional applications |
A hermetically sealed transformer is a fully sealed unit. I can prevent air exchange. It is N2 gas sealed to protect the oil from moisture and oxygen. It’s ideal for harsh environments. It is also known as a corrugated tank transformer or corrugated transformer, because its corrugated walls provide cooling and allow for oil expansion.
Compared with traditional open-type or conservator-type transformers, hermetically transformers follow a different maintenance philosophy.
Moving from regular servicing to condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. The best maintenance is “do not disturb”. You should not perform routine oil draining, sampling, or silica gel replacement like with conventional transformers. Regular maintenance includes:Visual Inspection, Temperature Monitoring, Sound and Vibration Monitoring
| Aspect | Hermetically Sealed | Dry Type |
| Cooling | Mineral oil | Air only |
| Overload capacity | strong | Not as strong |
| Weight | Heavier | Lighter |
| Rating | Higher capacity available | Limited capacity |
| Life cycle cost | Superior (>25 years) | Standard |
| Maintenance Frequency | Nearly maintenance-free | Regular cleaning required |
Regular oil sampling is not recommended.
Unlike a non–hermetically sealed transformer, this type is designed to create a permanent clean and closed environment. It removes the factors that cause oil aging, so routine sampling is normally not required.
Forcing an oil sample can damage the sealing. During sampling, air, moisture, or dust may enter the tank. This can start oil oxidation and reduce the service life of the transformer.
Oil sampling should only be done when there is a serious fault or abnormal condition. In such cases, the transformer has a special emergency sampling valve.
How to take oil sample from hermetically sealed transformer? The best method is vacuum sampling using a special vacuum sampler. The sampler has a bottle that can be vacuum-sealed. During sampling, the bottle is evacuated first, then connected to the transformer’s bottom sampling valve with a tube. When the valve is opened, the oil flows into the bottle because of the pressure difference. This method keeps the sample clean and closest to the transformer’s real internal condition.
