OMEK Power's Transformers for Data Center
OMEK Power data center transformers are specially designed for modern data center power distribution systems. By using the K-factor rated design, our transformers in data center can suppress the harmonics generated by loads such as servers and UPS. It is particularly suitable for UPS and Power Distribution Unit (PDU) power distribution applications.
OMEK Power can offer two dry-type transformer solutions: cast resin transformers and VPI transformers. Both types of transformers are fire safe, suitable for indoor use, with low maintenance requirements and low energy loss. All compliant with UL, cUL, ANSI, and IEEE standards.
Types of Data Center Transformers
Cast Resin Transformers
These oil-free transformers are very suitable for large-scale data center projects, as well as medium-voltage power distribution systems.
They are more moisture-proof and corrosion-resistant. Designed for indoor installation, especially for mission-critical power distribution.
Available with loop-fed terminal configurations for integration into medium-voltage ring main networks.

VPI Transformers
VPI (vacuum pressure impregnated) transformers are not only applicable to data centers, but also highly suitable for critical power facilities such as hospitals and airports.
Their windings are wrapped with insulating resin in a vacuum environment, almost no risk of partial discharge. Therefore, it is highly safe and suitable for continuous operation in data centers. More efficient cooling.
OMEK Power can also custom its harmonic resistance grades as K-4, K-13, or K-20 for your UPS systems.

How Does OMEK Power Serve Data Centers?

In addition to the national standard routine tests, we also conduct harmonic tolerance, temperature rise, short-term overload, etc. Ensure the quality up to standard of each transformer entering the data center.

OMEK Power transformers are available with low-loss core designs, such as CRGO 3D core. Besides, our amphous alloy core can also help promote the efficiency to another level. These innovative designs can help reduce the electricity cost and energy loss largely!

For data center projects of different standards, OMEK Power can customize special impedances, temperature rises, and enclosures. Special requirements, such as noise requirements and protection levels, we can also satisfy your needs.

OMEK Power owns 9 operating workshops in different zones. The large sale production capability ensures our delivery will be completed within 30 days, which is beyond the industry average delivery cycle.

Facing the AI pulse load and high harmonics in data center, we upgrade the insulation material, adopting 220℃ heat resistant Nomex insulating paper and flame-retardant modified epoxy resin for higher thermal endurance.

Conventional mineral oil transformers are prohibited from being placed in the main computer room and distribution room of the data center. Because the flash point of mineral oil is only 160℃ and it is very easy to catch fire.
However, high-flash-point natural ester oil is an exception. It features an extremely high flash point, and its heat dissipation efficiency is superior to that of cast resin transformers. Thus, this type of oil-filled transformer can be installed directly in IDC power distribution rooms.
OMEK Power uses plant-based environmentally friendly oil FR3 fluid. Its emergency short-term overload capacity is higher than that of ordinary dry types. Besides, it can well cope with the sudden increase in computing power in AI computer rooms.
A data center transformer is a specialized electrical device tailored for data center scenarios.
It is designed to run 24/7 under high load in order to meet non-stop work demands.
It focuses on energy efficiency and low PUE. It can resist harmonics and voltage fluctuations.
Hyperscale data centers: These are large-scale facilities. They are often used by tech giants.
Colocation data centers: These are third-party facilities. Businesses rent space, power, cooling, and connectivity to house their own servers and networking hardware.
Enterprise data centers: They are owned and operated by enterprises for their own internal needs.
Edge data centers: These are smaller localized facilities. They are located closer to end-users, so the speed of real-time applications can be improved.
Isolation (ISO) transformers prevent electrical interference and reduces zero-ground voltage. They protect sensitive IT equipment from voltage surges and ensure stable data transmission.
| Component | Function | Location | Key Feature |
| Transformer | Voltage conversion / isolation | Utility input or distribution level | Handles high voltage, steps down for DC use |
| PDU | Power distribution to IT loads | Rack or row level | Provides multiple outlets, optional monitoring |
| PDU Type | Key Feature | Use Case |
| Basic / Standard | Simple power distribution | Non-critical racks |

| High-Density / Modular | More outlets, modular | Hyperscale / high-density racks |
In data centers, energy consumption can be effectively reduced by optimizing the transformer in the following ways:
1. Choose high-efficiency transformer models with amorphous metal cores (or designs meeting GB 20052 Tier 1 / IEC 60076-20 efficiency requirements)
2. Match capacity appropriately: Let the transformer run in the optimal load range of 50%-70% to reduce copper loss.
3. Optimize the cooling method: Take advantage of the low-temperature indoor environment of the data center and use natural air cooling (ONAN) instead of forced air cooling to reduce power consumption.
