Based on the step down distribution transformer’s voltage level, capacity, working environment and cost, different winding types are adopted:
1. Cylindrical windings for medium & small oil-immersed distribution transformers: The oil can flow fully through the gaps of the coil, ensuring stable heat dissipation and is suitable for continuous operation for 24 hours.
2. Disc windings for high-voltage large substation transformers: larger insulation gap to withstand ultra-high voltage, stable heat dissipation under heavy load.
3. Copper foil windings for dry-type transformers: larger conductive area to carry huge low-voltage current, lower temperature rise for indoor safe operation.
