Key Features

Zero-Leakage Hermetic Sealing

Before oil filling, OMEK conducts laser based airtightness testing on each 37.5 kVA overhead transformer tank, ensuring long-term reliability in the coastal environment, high-humidity and utility applications.

Corrosion-Resistant Enclosure

OMEK uses multi-layer epoxy/polyurethane coating for mild steel or 304/316 stainless steel, resisting corrosion in coastal, high-salt-spray, and industrial corrosive areas.

High-Precision Voltage Adjustment

5-position NLTC tap changer (±2 × 2.5%) allows precise voltage adjustment at line ends, maintaining the voltage level and prevents damage to the equipment due to voltage fluctuations.

Completely Self-Protected (CSP) Option

Optional CSP design features internal high-voltage fuses, secondary breakers, and surge arresters, saving up to 15% in installation time and overall cost, without the need for external fuse cutouts and arresters.

Application & Case Study

37.5 kVA pole mounted transformer application: Medium-Density Suburban & Multi-Family Residential Clusters

Medium-Density Suburban & Multi-Family Residential Clusters

Application Scene: Overhead secondary step-down distribution in rural cooperatives and expanding residential cluster or mixed-load residential lanes in Latin America.

OMEK Solution: A regional electric cooperative in Honduras bought 12 units of OMEK 37.5 kVA pole mounted transformers on a 13.8 kV distribution line, which delivered 120/240V split phase power. It supplied 10-12 standard households (2-3 kW peak) or 4-6 larger households (5-7 kW peak) of air conditioning and electric water heaters.

Low loss core and high thermal margin windings ensured that the voltage remains stable during peak hours in the evening, minimize idle losses when power flows on the line, and have never failed after 5 years of operation.

Grid Distribution

Application Scene: Ideal for secondary distribution over buildings in high humidity coastal townships, island utility systems and high-density residential areas with significant marine corrosion problems.

OMEK Solution: The deployment of 45 units of OMEK 37.5 kVA pole mounted transformer (13.8 kV to 120/240 V) in a Regional Electric Cooperative in Luzon replaced the traditional steel pole mounted units which could corrode after only 3–5 years. The OMEK transformers had 304 stainless steel tanks, C5-M marine grade coating and FR3 eco fluid to provide 8-12 households with heavy air-conditioner loads.

The units were tested for 24 months and were proven to have no corrosion failures in salt mist and monsoon conditions, with a 40% drop in replacement cost.

37.5 kVA pole mounted transformer application: Roadside Commercial Hubs & Electric Vehicle Infrastructure

Roadside Commercial Hubs & Electric Vehicle Infrastructure

Application Scene: Level 2 EV charging for decentralized roadside charging stations, Level 2 highway service plazas, fast food drive thrus and car wash applications.

OMEK Solution: A national highway service group installed OMEK 37.5 kVA pole mounted transformers to power remote gas stations and fast-food restaurants. Electrical noise, known as harmonics, was generated by commercial refrigerators and computer systems, and caused problems in the power system for normal operation of the standard transformer. OMEK added harmonic protection to ensure the power system was operating properly.

The customer avoided the installation of large ground pads and thus reduced construction costs and ground space by 40% by mounting the transformers directly on the utility poles.

Rooftop Solar & Village Energy Storage

Application Scene: Home solar panels and home batteries and connecting to the power grid so they can transfer power back and forth.

OMEK Solution: A 35 kW community solar-and-battery project in the Valparaíso Region used OMEK 37.5 kVA overhead transformers to provide connection between local clean energy and the main 13.2 kV grid. Solar panels give out an abundant amount of electricity to the power lines on sunny days.

OMEK designed these transformers to be strong enough to take this flow of power in reverse without damage, with heavy duty copper coils and heat resistant insulation.

FAQs

Have any questions? We’re here to help you out.

1. What are the alternatives to the 37.5 kVA Pole Mounted Transformer?
2. How much does a 37.5 kVA pole mounted transformer weigh?

A 37.5 kVA pole mounted transformer typically weighs 340-454 kg.

3. Is a humming sound from a 37.5 kVA pole mounted transformer normal?

Yes. The sound from a 37.5 kVA overhead transformer is perfectly normal and is a quiet, steady, low frequency hum of about 100-120Hz. It is due to the small change in the size of the transformer core when it is subjected to alternating magnetic fields, which is known as magnetostriction. The unit functions well if the hum is low-level and remains the same.

4. What is the amperage of a 37.5 kVA overhead transformer?

For the secondary output of 240 V, the full-load amperage is 156.25 A (or 312.5 A split across each 120V leg). The 80% rule is generally used by utilities for continuous loads, which means that the continuous draw is at around 125 A at 240V. This rating amperage is exceeded, which leads to overheating the internal windings and reduces the life of insulation.

5. What is OMEK standard lead time?

OMEK 37.5 kVA pole mounted transformer has a lead time of only 4-8 weeks, which is much quicker than the industry average time of 20+ weeks. For projects that need to be done quickly, there is also express production scheduling that can be used.
